Thanks for asking and I’m excited to find another Caulkins building!
I can suggest a couple of different resources for more info on Caulkins. The best contemporary article I’ve been able to find was published in Architect and Engineer, v. 143, no. 2 (Nov. 1940), p. 22-39: Architectural regions–do they exist? / by Irving F. Morrow. You might also be interested in a pair of architectural drawings digitized by the Sonoma County Library in our Sonoma Heritage Collections (the 2nd result includes a link to the Morrow article). Finally, the Sonoma County Library has a copy of a Caulkins profile by architectural historian Diana Painter (as well as a historic structures report on a structure near Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square, also by Painter).
While the Caulkins profile doesn’t circulate, I may be able to obtain a copy for you if you can’t make it over the the Local History and Genealogy Library, located at the Santa Rosa Central Branch of the Sonoma County Library.
