I got to be a crew leader for the Sonoma Country Trails Council‘s trail maintenance day on the Lawndale trail at Annadel S.P. This trail, on the southeast corner of the park, has needed work — like all of the trails in the county. Center channels, berms, protruding rocks and logs, etc. The crew of roughly 40, worked hard and repaired/improved about 1/3 mile of trail. Conditions were near-perfect. The soil was moist, but not sticky. The crew was heavily mountain-biker, with a number of hikers as well. The trail looked great when we finished and everyone had a great time.

As a former crew leader with The Trail Center in Palo Alto, CA, I was very happy to get out on the trail again. I’ve had very few opportunities to do so over the past four years. I hope to do more.
