Stick with your New Year’s Resolutions and exercise! Everyone is invited to walk The Grand Tour Walkabout, which starts at the Downtown Plaza and circles the town of Sebastopol past historic buildings, through charming neighborhoods and along public trails. Craig Litwin, former Mayor of Sebastopol, will lead the 6-mile Walkabout and return to the plaza around noon. Geoffrey Skinner, Sebastopol’s iWALK contact will lead the longer, 11-mile Walkabout and return to the plaza around 1:15 p.m. The 11-mile route adds the trails within Laguna Park, Ragle Ranch Park, Burbank’s Gold Ridge Farm, and The Laguna Uplands.

Meet at the town plaza at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 30.  Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a hat, water, sunscreen and snack or lunch. Walkers may leave the group at any time after notifying the walk leader. Rain cancels.

This is the first of a series of free walks planned for 2010. In its third year, Sebastopol Walks are usually scheduled for the last Saturday of the month and are lead by volunteers from the community. The walks are based on the book Sebastopol Walks, and can be purchased on the walk, at City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce for $3.00. In February, the 7.5-mile walk to Railroad Square returns to the Plaza via Sonoma County Transit.
