I’m thrilled to see that a coalition of performing arts groups will resurrect the Sebastopol theater space occupied by The Sonoma County Rep until they closed in February.  PACT (Professional Artists Coalition for Theater) whose mission is to preserve this arts venue for professional quality live performance will reopen the intimate space on April 22 under a new name, Main Stage West. In an emailed announcement, PACT offered an opening benefit with singer-songwriter Si Kahn on April 22nd, as well as upcoming performances of  American folk duo Misner & Smith on Apr. 29th and Woody Guthries’ American Song on (performed at Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma in January of this year) on Apr. 30th and May 1st. The building still carries the old Rep sign, though PACT promises to spiff things up shortly.

If the opening acts are any indication, they may be in some competition with the Sebastopol Community Center and other local venues, but none of those are set up for theater.  I hope they will be able to put the funding together to offer many more live performances of all sorts — Sebastopol needs more live music downtown as well as theater.
