Laguna de Santa Rosa near Highway 12 crossing

Meet at the Laguna Youth Park (390 Morris St.) on Saturday 9/12 at 10:00 a.m to go on a walking tour of the Laguna Wetlands Preserve. You get to review, up close and personal with planners, the City’s first draft of a Master Plan for the 5 parcels that make up the City-owned frontage on the Laguna.

Download the first draft of the plan if you’d like to read it ahead of time.
Based on input from last Spring’s community workshop, as well as review by many local agencies and organizations, the Plan is designed to maintain the ecological functions of a wetland, (e.g., wildlife habitat, flood mitigation, and groundwater recharge) while also allowing for low-impact public access.
Proposed enhancements to be visited on the walk include:
  • Restoration of native plants and eco-system;
  • Signage to educate and enhance visibility;
  • New trail connections;
  • Opportunities for the public to participate in Laguna preservation activities.
If you are unable to attend the walk, you may email your comments to Planning Director, Kenyon Webster at
